It’s been a super busy week! My trip to New York City and the US Open was incredible! It was full of fun, food, tennis stars, tennis matches, and more! I can’t wait to tell you all about it. Keep an eye out for my upcoming updates to the NYC Guide.
Here's everything that caught my eye this week.
READ
Although this book was released in 2010, I've never read it. I grew up watching Andre, and for the longest time, my childhood bedroom had only an Andre Agassi poster on the wall. While I was in New York this week, I visited the man he trusted to string and prepare his racquets, Mr. Roman Prokes. Andre writes about him in his autobiography. I can't wait to read it!
Tokyo has always held a place on my wanderlust list; however, lately it seems to be moving its way to the top. I love Japanese food, and the culture has always intrigued me. I read the latest issue of Racquet Magazine (guest edited by Naomi Osaka) on the way to New York City and it was filled with Japanese culture and art. When I saw this travel book at Uniqlo, I had to have it!
For all the aforementioned reasons, this book also caught my eye. I didn't buy it, only because books are heavy and would add to my already heavy suitcase. I'll order it online, and can't wait to try the recipes!
I'm such a sucker for Assouline coffee table books. I have several destination inspired books already. I thought this one about the legendary Carlyle hotel in New York was particularly appropriate. The books are so beautiful! We visited the Assouline location in London, and I could've spent an entire day there.

POLLIANI
Scandinavian girls have been hitting it out of the park (or should I say hitting aces) with their street style lately. I'm also dying to visit Scandinavia, which is part of the appeal! I love this account by stylist Janka Polliani. It's full of great outfit inspiration and I love how she incorporates fun bright colors. And the shoes!
WATCH
I watched this on the flight home from New York and I loved it! It has a Nicholas Sparks The Notebook feeling about it, but don't we all need a little uplifting now and then, cheesy as it may be? The soundtrack is so good, as are the 1960's styles. Callum Turner is so beautiful, and the dry sarcastic humor of Felicity Jones and Nathan Rizwan is really cute. Not sure how much guys would enjoy it, so save it for a movie night with the girls or watch alone with a glass of wine!
LISTEN
I've started every day this week listening to the Tennis Podcast recap of the previous day at the US Open. I know I've written about them before so I thought I'd throw in one of the random pods I listen to when I'm all caught up on tennis. This is such an outlier, but I find these girls so funny! I started listening to keep up on pop culture and social media stuff, so I'd know what my kids are most likely hearing about. I skip through a lot of their content about reality shows (I don't really watch them), but I like keeping a pulse on pop culture issues. It's mindless fun.
I hope you all had a great week! I can't wait to organize my thoughts and wrap up my trip to New York City and the US Open!
XO,
Val
