20 Tennis Photoshoot Poses, Ideas, & Inspiration

I've been blogging about tennis and travel for almost two years now. I started out using my iPhone, a tripod, and various selfie sticks to take photos for my blog, but I decided it was time to call in a professional. I discovered my photographer Allie Jorde when I saw photos she had taken for an influencer friend of mine. I contacted her and all of these photos are her work. She is amazing! Not only is she a great photographer, she is so good at giving instruction, optimizing lighting, and directing me. It takes all the guess work out of it for me and I love it! She also plays music throughout the shoot, which may seem insignificant, but it sets a fun mood for the shoot and puts me at ease.

Whether you need ideas for a tennis inspired senior photos, a tennis themed wedding, or just feel like taking fun tennis photos, here are some great ideas and tips I learned from my super talented photographer.

MAXIMIZE GOOD LIGHTING

When Allie requested a 6am call time, I thought, "Whoa sister, that's awfully early to have hair and makeup done!" She knows what she's doing, and the lighting made for such incredible photos. She taught me how to "Lizard." Basically, you face the sun with your eyes closed, raise your chin and preen like a lizard sunning in the warm desert. Below is my best attempt at being a lizard.

INCORPORATE TENNIS MOVEMENT

A great photographer makes you feel relaxed, and Allie definitely did that for me. She captured great movement by having me do some kicks, play with my hair, bounce the ball on my racquet, and toss a ball toward the camera.

IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS

Mixing in detail shots can add interest and depth to your shoot. I loved the shots Allie snapped of my old racquet on the court. Classic tennis photos are timeless.

BLACK & WHITE

You can change the entire mood of photos by editing them as black and white. Classic tennis vibes are all about vintage or black and white. You can be really creative!

HAVE FUN!

The one thing I hope that comes across in my blogging is how much I love tennis! Tennis has given me so much, and I hope the love and passion I have for this beautiful sport comes through. I always have fun at my photoshoots, and I thank my beautiful photographer Allie for capturing it!

If you have any questions, make sure to send me a message! I love talking tennis with all of you! If you take some fun tennis photos, I'd love to see them!

XOXO,

Val
